This measure is to add doors to open refrigerated case and make adjustments to the rest of the refrigeration system as needed to optimize performance with a significantly reduced thermal load. Specifically adjustments might be upgrading or modifying expansion valves, replacing refrigerant piping, and/or re-configuring compressors in some instances.
The measure saves energy by reducing infiltration in open-cases. Adding a door to a refrigerated case reduces the refrigeration load by about half and also reduces the heating load of the store. However it also can introduce an anti-sweat heater load.
