This measure is the installation of an AHRI certified Packaged Terminal Heat Pump (PTHP) that replaces a Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner with integral electric resistance heat in a multi-family dwelling unit (low, mid, or high-rise). Due to the lack of field research into the performance of PTHPs, this is an engineering analysis relying on SEEM modeling for low-rise multi-family that is extrapolated to mid and high-rise. Due to the high uncertainty, this measure has been set to planning with an associated research strategy. The research could be completed through a billing analysis and site visit/survey or other methods that achieve the following objectives:
1. Estimate unit-level savings separately for:
- HZ1 and HZ2 / HZ3 combined
- low (townhome vs. non-townhome), mid, and high-rise
2. Estimate savings separately for varying identifiers (as outlined in the research strategy) such as by PTHP size, area designed to serve, unit operation, etc.
