This measure seals the ductwork for central electric or gas HVAC systems where the ductwork meets eligibility criteria including located in unconditioned space.
There are two eligibility paths for ductwork to qualify: Visual Inspection Only or Visual Inspection Plus Duct Blaster Testing. A program may use one path or the other, but they may not be mixed in the same program.
Savings are delineated by:
- primary heating fuel (gas/electric)
- the eligibility options
- the presence (or lack thereof) of central air conditioning
- and the use of the bill screen (this is not required of programs but a choice)
Delivery verification outlines the criteria for determining if a particular site passes or fails eligibility, job completion, and the application of the bill screen along with outlining the proper use of realization rates based on the pass/fail rates of the sample of homes that receive QA. The specification document contains additional program design recommendations to potentially increase realization rates and reduce costs.
