This measure is for connected thermostats that are ENERGY STAR qualified and either include on-board motion sensors or are packaged with a motion sensor. Geo-fencing is not considered motion sensing. The measure applies to electrically and gas heated homes and has applications for Single Family/Manufactured Homes and Multifamily homes broken out more granularly by heating zone, heating system type, and program delivery.
Thanks to recent regional studies, savings from the following measure applications are considered by the RTF to be reliable and were adopted as 'Proven':
- SF/MH Gas-heated homes, HZ1, retail
- SF/MH, Gas-heated homes, HZ 1, direct install
- SF/MH, ASHP-heated homes, HZ 1, direct install-resistance optimization
All other applications were set to 'Planning' and an associated research strategy was approved to address lingering uncertainty around the affects of climate, fuel type, and resistance controls on electric system type.
