Research and Evaluation Subcommittee: October 12, 2017 Research and Evaluation Subcommittee: March 15, 2018

Agenda

On this call the subcommittee will discuss feedback on a Research Strategy for Residential Lighting: Pin-Based Lamps and LED fixtures

The two main components that are covered in the research strategy include:

  • Non-Residential Leakage: The residential lighting measure accounts for potential leakage of lamps sold at retail into commercial applications. This is important as it has an impact on the hours of use in the analysis (commercial lamps generally have a greater hours of use). The RTF does not have any data on leakage rates for pin-based lamps or LED fixtures, and is seeking to improve that through this Research Strategy.
  • Market Share: Being a current practice measure, the ultimate savings is dependent upon the current market share. The current RTF estimates are based mostly on professional judgment and distributor data. This Research Strategy seeks to get better data on these markets through the retail channels.
