Operative Guidelines Subcommittee Meeting: June 20, 2016 Guidelines Subcommittee: September 8, 2017

This is the first meeting of the Capacity Benefits Work Group. The goal of this meeting is to get the work group on the same page on the purpose and objectives of this work at the RTF.

Agenda

  1. Introductions and Background (~5 min)
Conduct roll call and remind the group of the high level goal of this project.
  2. Definition of Terms (~25 min)
Cadmus is developing a glossary of terms to support this work. The work group will review the draft glossary, discuss some of the key terms, and discuss a plan for refining the glossary going forward.
  3. Scoping RTF Effort (~60 min)
In the end, the RTF is looking for a way to provide an indicator of the quality of its estimates of capacity benefits from energy efficiency measures and, where needed, provide recommendations for research needs and priorities. To define "quality" the RTF will first need to define what specifically it cares about with respect to capacity benefits from energy efficiency measures. For example, does the RTF want to determine quality based on how well the hourly profile reflects every hour of the year, or is the RTF only interested in the quality of the hourly profile at the regional winter peak of 6:00 pm in the winter, or something in between? The goal of this discussion will try to answer that question, focusing on the use of RTF estimates and what that means for what we care about in this work.
  4. Next Steps (~5 min)
Outlining next steps, including any additional feedback needed after the call.
